The routine of Leandro Maccione, the owner of an antique shop in the heart of Livorno, consists of trying to cope with the financial crisis that is hitting Italy to save his business from bankruptcy. For this, he has the help of Erika, a clever girl who works as a volunteer in his store. But everything changes one afternoon when he receives an enigmatic anonymous donation: an elegant dollhouse from the early 20th century, whose presence at the shop will disrupt his life and become his obsession when, from that day on, he starts having terrifying nightmares in which he witnesses a brutal murder. His eagerness to find out the origin of his torment will take him to Lombardy, on the shores of Lake Garda, to reopen the case of the disappearance of a young woman sixty years ago. His investigations will lead to an unsuspected outcome, uncovering a secret buried for decades under the shadows of the end of the Second World War
